I only took a few photos today, and at one point I turned around to Rutledge Wood being interviewed behind me. Really good turn out today.

I’d like to meet Rutledge Wood. He seems like he’d be a down-to-earth kind of guy.
Also: OF COURSE the R33 had Florida plates.

That was like the third or fourth 90s gtr I passed today. There were about 15 of the new GTRs there too.
Rutledge was just hanging out talking about his two cars there. He brought that Plymouth wagon and the brown Chevy pickup

That was the second Opel I saw today. I just had to take a pic of the purple one.

That wide body Benz looks nuts! I didn't even know they made flares for it.

Can somebody tell me about this (homolgation special?) Festiva?
One of them is always visible in Jay Leno’s Garage videos and I keep asking me what the hell it is...

It’s a pretty rare car. Has a Yamaha v6 from a Taurus SHO in the back of it. Custom wide body with air intakes on the rear fenders. It is called the Shogun. This one actually had Leno’s signature on the dash board. I thought that was kind of funny.

I’m sure he got a silver one...thought it had something to do with Group B rallying, but itis really to new for that...

Definitely nuts. I like it when people do things that are kind of extreme and different. Plus, looking at the rear wheels, almost the whole wheel was outside of the factory body. I'm not saying it is the greatest car or anything, just interesting enough for me to take a photo.

Because why not?
I flipped out when I saw the shogun. Have never seen one in person before.

Oh yeah, this definitely wasn't Leno's. His is silver and a lot cleaner than this one.

Never seen the rear of that car, it’s just crazy that they’ve built it. Really love it.

This one had an LS in it too. Would be fun to track, that is for sure. There was an Atom across the way. I didn't take any pics of it this time. The Exocet company also brought out a couple of cars. Would love to build one of those.

Exocet with an LS is something I'm pondering.

R3X cars generally don’t trip my trigger anymore. Now that I’ve got the research down to know exactly what constitutes legal and illegal, they basically all just fall into those two categories in my brain, and never have I heard more excuses, than from “State-legal” skyline owners.

The creation of the SHOgun was literally for shits and giggles and there only 7 originals, but some people have started making their own replicas. #005 was turned into a SCCA racer and Leno owns #003, which has been hooked up with a bottle of nitrous oxide.
“In 1990, Chuck Beck (father of the BECK Speedster and Porsche 904 replicas ) and Rick Titus (former race car driver and automotive journalist, who hosts a syndicated radio program called Drivers Talk Radio, son of another former race driver-turned-journalist, Jerry Titus) took seven Ford Festivas and mounted 3.0 L SHO V6s still mated to their native transmissions behind the front seats in mid-rear engine configuration. Along with substantial cosmetic body changes, including custom fiberglass wheel arches to accommodate a wider stance and larger tires, the suspension was completely redesigned. Each car was painted a different color. These changes resulted in a car that could travel the ¼ mile (0.4 km) in 12.9 seconds at 100.9 mph (162 km/h), and could achieve a lateral acceleration figure ranging from .95 to 1.04 g. “
